The Squirrels, the Birds, the Rabbits, and the Teacher.

The squirrels, the birds, the rabbits, and the Teacher.

By Terryl Miller Sky

One morning a man who was a teacher woke up very early.

He stretched and put on his clothes.

He went outside his house to greet the day.

The sun was shining and the birds were singing.

It was so beautiful!

He looked in his garden and saw some squirrels.

They were running, saw the man and stopped.

They looked at the man and asked him “do you have any peanuts for us to eat?”

The man said “peanuts?!”

“Yes! We want some peanuts!”  the squirrels said.

Then the birds in the trees stopped singing their songs.

The man looked up in the tree and saw the birds.

The birds said to the man “ and we want some seeds, please!”.

Then the man looked down on the ground and there was a mother rabbit with her baby rabbitt.

The mother rabbit said “and we would like a small carrots please for me and my baby bunny”.

The man was so surprised at all the animals, but he smiled.

He was a vegetarian and loved animals.

So, the next morning, the man brought some peanuts for the squirrels, some seeds for the birds, and some carrots for the rabbits.

All the animals were already waiting for him when he went outside.

They were happy and excited when the man gave him their food.

“THANK YOU! THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!” all the animals said.

The squirrels ran up and down the tree, the birds flew around singing, and the rabbits hopped in circles with happiness.

And the man was happy too, because now he had so many new wonderful friends.

“It is so good to give, and make the animals happy. I will give to people too, and help them too. They will be happy, and I will have many more friends.”

And so the man lived a happy life, because he helped his animal friends, and some people too! It was because he had a good heart.
